Saturday, July 9 - Around St. Johns

I got up at 4:45 AM to make the trip to Cape Spear to see the sun come up at 5:15 over North America. Three other people were there with me, and a few little birds like this one.
This little clam shell is getting the courage to open. Watch closely.
After visiting the Ocean Life Museum at Logy Bay, we drove on to Middle Cove and had a look around.
We looked for our "lucky rock" which must have a white stripe on it. If you find a double or triple stripe, you are even luckier!
The colours and variety are something to behold. It's just like our beach in Hamilton.
Middle Cove beach. Just one beach among thousands.
Look what we found. Unfortunately our attempts to revive it failed.
Stopping in Portugal Cove for lunch, I enjoyed a scrumptious meal of toasted bacon and tomato with pea soup. Oh yeah!

Three times lucky!

This is a whale vertebrae.

Hermit crab.

The harp seal decides to join his pals in the other pool. These guys loved to zoom underwater and then pop up their head and look at you, as if to play Peekaboo!
