At Harbourside Park, there are two scupltures about two famous dog breeds: The Labrador retriever and the Newfoundland breed. This is a one and a half scale sculpture of a Newfoundland.

The Fluvarium at Memorial University. They have built a nature exhibit beside a trout stream, and you can actually look into the river and see the fish swimming around.
Beaver
Sir Humphrey Gilbert claimed the St. John's harbour area for England. Combine it with some French colonization efforts up the St. Lawrence River, and you have the basis of what would eventually become Canada. Gilbert perished on the return trip to England when his ship went down in a storm, and he never saw the fruit of his efforts.
Local folk musician Michael Hanrahan played at Kelly's Pub in St. John's. We bought his CD.
